About

What's this Dexter Logic thing and what's it about?

I had initially set out to get my own permanent email address. Unfortunately, all of the basic versions of domains with my last name, such as lastname.com, were already taken. In fact that one had been acquired in 1996 by a company that is selling email addresses to people who want a lastname.com address. But, the idea of paying some company for my name really bothered me.

Then, I started looking for simple domains using "Dexter," which was an old nickname from high school. Most simple variations using that name were also taken, so I dug far into the dark corners of distant memory and had a brain storm--"Dexter Logic." That was something I was once accused of using to solve bonus proofs in math class that even my very smart friends found difficult.

Now I had an idea for an available domain that was still fairly simple (easy to spell and easy for friends and family to remember), and also sounded kinda' cool. I decided that it had more possibilities than just a permanent email address. While I am currently using my domain for personal email and web pages, I plan to use this as a business name when I retire from my day job and start working for myself. That's still a few years down the road, but it never hurts to plan ahead.
